General Soedirman, "The Brave Hero"



General Soedirman (24 January 1916 – 29 January 1950) was a Persistent Indonesian military officer that take part in the Indonesian National Revolution.

He is known for his Guerilla Tactics. Guerrilla warfare is a form of irregular warfare in which a small group of combatants, such as paramilitary personnel, armed civilians, or irregulars, use military tactics including ambushes, sabotage, raids, petty warfare, hit-and-run tactics, and mobility to fight a larger and less-mobile traditional military. In Indonesia, it's called Perang Gerilya, and it was used to fight against invaders.

Sudirman's Signature

Well, I think he has the authority that made him appointed to be an officer at a young age, but not without a reason. Brave and tough to spearhead the people to fight invaders in Military Agression II, although he had Tuberculosis at that time. Not only that, he is also known as a persistent and determined fighter.

General Sudirman died on January 29, 1950 because of the severe tuberculosis he suffered. His body was buried in Taman Makam Pahlawan Kusuma Negara, Semaki, Yogyakarta. He remembered as The National Hero of Indonesia.
